TERENA
38.62118º N; 7.40742º W
Located in the center of the municipality, the parish of Terena (São Pedro) has neighbors of Nossa Senhora da Conceição (Alandroal) to the northeast, Capelins to the southeast and Santiago Maior to the southwest, and the municipalities of Redondo to the west and Vila Viçosa to the north.
The town of Terena played an important role in border defense, through its castle, which was part of Guadiana's line of defense. In its territory, the cult of the Virgin Mary (possible fruit of the Christianization of pagan cults) has developed since remote times, and its Sanctuary, today called the Good News, already celebrated by Afonso X de Castela in his Cantigas de Santa Maria.
