Mora is a Portuguese village, in the Évora district, Alentejo region, and sub-region of Central Alentejo with approximately 4 979 inhabitants (2012).
It is the seat of a municipality with an area of ​​443.95 km² and 4 978 inhabitants (2011), subdivided into 4 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipality of Ponte de Sor, to the northeast by Avis, to the east by Sousel, to the southeast by Arraiolos, and to the west by Coruche.
The municipality of Mora is divided into 4 parishes: Brotas, Cabecão, Mora, Pavia.
Mora is in North Alentejo only 100 Km away from Lisbon. Fluviary of Mora (Fluviário de Mora).
The Fluviary of Mora is a public aquarium dedicated to freshwater ecosystems, privileging the knowledge and importance of its biodiversity, and its relationship with humanity. It is located in the Ecological Park of Gameiro, parish of Cabeção, municipality of Mora.
Consisting of a set of aquariums and surrounding spaces, the Fluviário de Mora allows you to observe different species of fauna and flora that occur in rivers and lakes. The exhibition galleries of the Fluviário de Mora are organized by biotopes. Through the exposure of habitats along the path of a river - paradigm of an Iberian river - from the source to the mouth, and the sea, it is possible to get to know several species of rivers in Portugal, including some Iberian endemisms. In the gallery of exotic habitats, it is possible to discover species from the hydrographic basin of the Amazon River, the Great African Lakes of the Rift Valley, among others.
